New Lamont-Lieberman Poll
There is a new Lieberman-Lamont Poll from Quinnipiac University. An analysis of that poll can be found here. So far, Lieberman holds the lead. That's certainly unfortunate, but it does not mean that he will win at the end. He is still leading because the democratic establishment is afraid to turn against him. But the same poll shows that although the Connecticut voters "approve" of Lieberman by a 59-29 margin, they disapprove of George W. Bush by a much larher (75-21) margin.
As we said before in this blog, the campaign to defeat Lieberman has to be a national campaign. MoveOn.org and the left wing of the DNC has to get involved and there should be national fundraising to support Lamont. Lieberman has been an apologist and admirer of the disastrous Bush administration and can be defeated. But the message has to get out. Ned Lamont should also be more aggressive and escalate his critisisms of Lieberman. He should call him for what he is: A sad case of an ex-democrat who degenerated to a supporter of George W. Bush.
