Desperation

How desperate can some people be to keep their elected job? Here is how the web site of senator Ben Nelson from Nebraska describes him in a press release :

"Since elected to the United States Senate in 2000, Nelson has supported more than 215 of President Bush’s nominations to the Federal Bench, including Chief Justice John Roberts".

So, it sounds that he presents as a "credential" that he has voted for Bush's nominees. Is he proud of that? Or is it simply that he is trying to look good to the religious wingnuts as we discussed before? He already said he would vote for Alito. What else would he do to be re-elected? How could he call himself a democrat?
