The Cilivized World Condemning Bush For His Unbelievable Veto Against Science
There has been enormous reaction to the bizzare and extreme action of Bush (veto) against Stem Cell Research. Scientists and researchers all over the world condemned the extreme anti-scientific action of Bush. Here are some:
Robert Berdahl, president of the Association of American Universities, called Bush'sveto a major "setback" for science. "em>The share of American papers on stem cells has already been declining rapidly in comparison to other countries, and this veto will further that trend" , he said.
Steven Goldman, of the University of Rochester in New York: “Of course I am dismayed. We have so much more information now that we could take advantage of.”
Rees of Ludlow, president of the Royal Society in London: (Bush’s veto) is “slowing down the global effort to develop therapies for a range of diseases and illnesses . . . that could eventually help millions of patients in the US and the rest of the world”.
David Macauley, chief executive of the UK Stem Cell Foundation “This is about realising the potential of stem cell research and this will only be achieved if we encourage and support research and collaboration worldwide.”
It is really sad to see the damage that a president who is controlled by the extreme religious right is doing to science. This is the United States of America and things like this should not be happening. No president in the history of the country has ever attempted before to openly block scientific advances in the name of religion.
