Are we up for a landslide? The Dan Seals - Mark Kirk Race in Illinois.

The last polls on congress races released yesterday are remarkable. They show that the democrats are much more competitive than we thought. As an example: IL-10 congressional district. A poll yesterday shows that the race is a dead heat with republican congressman Mark Kirk at 46% and democratic challenger Dan Seals at 44%. Why is that remarkable? Well, because Kirk has been re-elected several times and in 2004 he won another democratic challenger by a 65%-35% margin.

Interestingly, Kirk has been trying to distance himself from Bush and pretend that he is "independent", but he is not. He is a right-wing republican that supported the Bush administration in key decisions. You can see how happy he looks in these pictures with Bush and...Rumsfeld! On the other hand, Dan Seals has much better friends, like Barak Obama (picture below).

Prediction here? Dan Seals has the momentum and will win. And this race is completely out of the radar screen of seats needed for the democrats to get back the congress.
