Demotion?

Well, lets say you have the job of "National Intelligence Director" and you have the directors of the CIA, FBI and other agencies reporting to you. You are considered the "Czar" of national security in the country. And then you are asked to step down to become "deputy" secretary of the state. Is n't that a demotion or what? It certainly seems so. And I think it is.

It is, of course, hard to know but Negroponte has been a mediocre politician that has not really achieved much. It looks that he is one of these classic incompetent or semi-incompetent politicians that Bush has been promoting to key jobs, like Mike Brown, Condoleezza Rice, etc. It is hard to believe that such move will do anything good. It seems more like he failed in his previous job and he is now demoted. By a president who has no idea what he is doing.

By the way, the face of Negroponte in the picture above, listening to the lies that Powell says in the UN regarding WMDs says a lot. I am not sure that Powell knew that he was lying then. But Tenet and Negroponte? Hmmm...
