The King of Sparta was not a chickenhawk
I was reading some posts in a couple of right wing blogs about Leonidas and the 300 Spartans, and they made me laugh. Those right-wing posts were, of course, discussing the movie "300". Somehow the republicans and the right wingers decided that they can use the battle of Thermopylae for republican right wing propaganda!!! It looks that their propaganda efforts keep moving further in the past. After world war II, we are now all the way back to ancient Greece.
Well, I have news for them. The king of Sparta was not a chickenhawk. He was a real fighter. He would have never lied to start a war and he would have never sent his troops to fight for no reason, while he would be seating in his ancient white house watching football. If he were alive today he would be probably laughing with the republican chickenhawks who try to use his name.
The attempt of the right to link the ancient greek king Leonidas and his 300 Spartan fighters to the current far right republican ideology is beyond ridiculous. It reflects some sort of intellectual flatness and desperation.
