Michelle Bachelet

Somehow I really like this woman, Michelle Bachelet,who won the presidency in Chile. I think it is remarkable and a triumph of demo-cracy that a victim of Pinochet will be the first woman president in Chile.

The regime of Pinochet was one of the worst in history. Pinochet was a mass murderer that created a terrible police state after overthrowing the democrati-cally elected president of Chile at that time, Salvator Allende. Thousands of people were killed by this monsterous dictator.

Bachelet is a pediatrician that was tortured and lost her father under the Pinochet regime. She is now the first woman ever elected president in any country in South America. She will be a great president. I am wondering how Pincohet and the idiots who supported him then feel now.
