Freedom of expression and religious fanatics

A French Newspaper has reproduced a set of caricatures of Muhammad that have previously caused outrage in the Muslim world. Under the headline "Yes, we have the right to caricature God", the paper ran a front page cartoon of Buddhist, Jewish, Muslim and Christian gods floating on a cloud.

The French Newspaper, as well as the Danish and Norwegian ones before, are absolutely right. I hope that the New York Times or another newspaper here will follow their example and publish the caricatures here as well. Religious fanatism has been through history the cause of terrible things on earth. Enough is enough. It is about time to stand up to the religious fanatics, of any religion, and declare that in free societies people can say whatever they want. It is called freedom of expression.
