Bad News From France

The best candidate, Segolene Royal, lost the elections. The conservative Sarkozy won with 53% to Royal's 47%. Anyway, I dont think much will change. In reality the "conservatives" in France are similar to moderate democrats here, while Royal's party would be the equivalent of classic liberal democrats here.

Despite my slight disappointment, I hope that Sarkozy will end up being a good president, like his predecessor. Although Chirac was also "conservative", he was a positive presence in Europe.
