Michael Schiavo Gives One More Reason For Which Lieberman Should Be Defeated

Michael Schiavo has a post in Daily Kos in which he explains why he campaigned in Connecticut for Ned Lamont and against Lieberman. Here is part of what he wrote:

"In the media and political circus surrounding my case a few people stood out. Tom Delay, of course. Rick Santorum and Bill Frist. President Bush.

And Joe Lieberman.

Not only did Joe Lieberman support the illegal political intervention in the private and legally protected decisions of my family, he went out of his way to defend it. On national television."

I think that the involvement of Lieberman in the Schiavo case shows that he is in reality no different than extreme right-wing republicans like Tom DeLay and Rick Santorum on some key social issues. Lieberman is an embarassment to the democratic party. Hopefully, after he is defeated on August 8 and becomes independent, the leadership of the democratic party will distance itself from him. It is in the interests of the democratic party to do so.
